In 2008 C and I took a three week vacation to Spain; visiting Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Málaga, Sevilla and Madrid. By bus we saw a dry, rocky and sometimes empty country. We didn’t’ really have a plan, except to travel down the coast, head towards Sevilla, stop to see the Sierra Nevada and be in Madrid in time for Orgillo.
Being our second time in Spain, and armed with better Español I felt more comfortable to explore the areas off the tourist maps. As usual with my holiday photos I managed to snap off a bunch of nice street art shots.
I found Granada to be an amazing city for street art: the amount of small out of sight streets, stairs and alleys make it the perfect canvas for artists. Not surprisingly there is a fair amount of political graffiti (Granada is a univeristy town), but overall I found it difficult to tell the commissioned pieces from the illegal pieces – the quality of work is impressive.
Valencia also provided us with a nice selection of street art, although the work was confined to one area of the city, an area we only discovered on our last evening. So without much light left in the day we captured some good quality work, albeit slightly different and more abstract than those pieces in Granada.

¡Qué bueno! Artistas muy talentosos. El arte de la calle es el mejor.
